The League of Defense Companies of Ukraine, as a cluster of medium- and large-scale private sector Ukrainian companies, had broad participation at the exhibition. The League’s member companies produce a broad range of platforms and systems, including communication systems, guided missiles, armoured vehicles and aviation engines. The diversity of its members’ product portfolios means that the League can offer complete solutions consisting of platforms, sensors, weapons and ammunition, rather than lean solutions such as a single platform.
The League, which has forged close relations with the Turkish defence and aerospace sector, signed a memorandum of understanding with SAHA Istanbul during last year’s IDEF event, and in recent months the League took part in a firing test that was significant for the Turkish defence and aerospace sector. Ukrainian guided missile manufacturer Luch has joined forces with Practika, a member of the League, and ASELSAN with a view to meeting the needs of a third country. Under this cooperation, ASELSAN’s Anti-Tank Missile Launching System has been integrated onto Practika’s 4×4 Kozak armoured personnel carrier, and the firing tests of Luch-made guided missiles were conducted using this system.
Dr. Yuliia Vysotska, External Affairs Director of the League, commenting on the potential cooperation they may establish with Turkey, said: “We are well aware that Turkey has a highly developed defence and aerospace sector, however Turkey may also need technical support in some specific areas, and we are ready to meet such needs with the broad range of capabilities offered by our member companies.”
