Through a new agreement signed with NDMA, the Norwegian Armed Forces’ defence supply agency, HENSOLDT will equip the Svalbard ship of the Norwegian Coast Guard with the latest version of the TRS-3D radar. According to the announcement of the signing, released on August 14, the radar solution offered by the company will include a built-in identification friend or foe (IFF) system as usual, and deliveries will start in 2021.
In recent months, HENSOLDT signed an agreement for the modernisation of the TRS-3D radars that will be integrated into three Arctic Coast Guard ships being built for the same user under the P6615 Programme. With the new agreement, the total value of the agreements reached €27 million.
The TRS-3D is a multi-purpose, three-dimensional naval and air surveillance radar that can track targets automatically and provide navigation information to helicopters. The MSSR 2000 I IFF system integrated within the radar allows for friend or foe identification.
