STM, which has managed to meet the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces in this field with the kamikaze drones it has developed, has released a new video from the tests of the Fixed-Wing Autonomous Tactical Attack UAV ALPAGU. The video featured a launched ALPAGU reaching to its target employing its autonomous capabilities. STM shared this video on 25 June, with the description: “ALPAGU spread its wings to the sky … Light, Fast, Accurate, Soon!”
ALPAGU weighs less than 2 kilograms and there are only 2 platforms of similar qualities in the world. Despite its small size and light weight, ALPAGU carries explosives enough to neutralize its target, can work at very long distances and can be carried by a single soldier and used very quickly in the mission area. ALPAGU also provides an important surprise effect and operational superiority with its artificial intelligence and image processing capabilities, stealth, and the ability to bring the explosive it carries fully to the target.
Having successfully completed a challenging development process, STM continues intensive tests on the field. ALPAGU, which has been tested and got improved capabilities on launching, flying, reaching and neutralizing the target, has achieved very successful results. The final tests are aimed to end in a very short time and ALPAGU is expected to be in Turkish Armed Forces use at the end of the year.
ALPAGU will be able to be operated by a single soldier, along with other versions that will be able to be launched from multiple launchers on armoured vehicles. New versions of ALPAGU will be developed that will be able to be launched from Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles such as AKINCI and Anka. There are will be bigger, longer ranged and faster versions of ALPAGU with more explosive payload in them on STM’s agenda. With the ability and know-how to develop a small size platform under 2 kilograms, larger platforms will be ready for use in a very short time. After the works on the larger versions of ALPAGU, platforms that weigh more than 10 kilograms and able to engage bigger targets will be produced.
Following the deliveries that will start this year, STM aims to create an ALPAGU product family with diverse products, starting from next year.
On the other hand, ALPAGU will be able to work integrated with unarmed UAV platforms such as Togan, which has remote sensing, image processing and tracking capabilities.
STM, which has developed swarm capabilities on Kargu, will realize a concept of use in which ALPAGU and KARGU can be used for different types of missions in the same swarm.
