NATO Finds an Opportunity with Anatolian Eagle

Anatolian Eagle proved its international character with hosting a NATO exercise as well as the participation of forces and observers from foreign countries. NATO Deployment and Readiness Exercise Ramstein Dust II-2022 (RADU II-22) was held in association with Anatolian Eagle-2022, between June 20-28 in Türkiye.

Personnel and equipment from NATO’s Deployable Air Command and Control Centre (DACCC) based in Poggio Renatico, Italy, took part in the exercise. The personnel and equipment started their journey on June 5, deploying to Konya through roads and highways. The convoy clocked around 2,500 km with their deployment, carrying NATO DARS (Deployable Air Control Centre, Recognized Air Picture Production Centre, Sensor Fusion Post) equipment and hardware with 30 trucks in total.

Azerbaijani Air Force participated in the training with Su-25 aircrafts that took part in the Second Nagorno-Karabakh war actively. Both planes carried Belarus-made Talisman ECM pods.

DARS took part in the Anatolian Eagle-2022 as one of main air command and control units along with NATO and Turkish (AEW&C) aircraft and National Control and Warning Centres.

NATO DADR (Deployable Air Defence Radar) entered service recently in NATO and it was deployed to a NATO country for the first time together with RADU II-22.

Turkish Air Force Command deployed two F-4E Phantom II aircraft with special tail decorations to Anatolian Eagle-2022 as a gesture for spotters’ day, even though the aircraft did not have role in the training. One of the aircraft had a panther design on its nose instead of traditional shark mouth.

AKINCI UCAV Flies Over Eastern Mediterranean

Anatolian Eagle-2022 was also the stage for many firsts of the AKINCI UCAV. The UCAV participated in an international exercise for the first time with Anatolian Eagle-2022. The exercise was also the first Turkish Air Force Command exercise for the UCAV as well.
