Baykar’s AKINCI Breaks a Record with an Altitude of 40,170 Feet

Developed by Baykar and continuing its test flights, B version of the Bayraktar AKINCI Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle (UCAV) reached an altitude of 40,170 feet in the flight carried out on 11 March. In the press release published by Baykar on the subject, it was emphasized that with this development, the altitude record in Turkish aerospace history was broken with a uniquely developed aircraft. In the bulletin, it was also underlined that the previous record also belonged to AKINCI with the 38,039 feet altitude reached on July 8, 2021.

Export contracts have been signed with 2 countries for AKINCI UCAV so far. Within the scope of the contracts, it is aimed to deliver AKINCI and related ground systems by 2023. Realizing its first UAV export in 2012, Baykar exported 664 million dollars of UAV and UCAV systems in 2021, generating more than 80 percent of its revenues from exports in the same year. The company continues negotiations with many countries that are interested in AKINCI.

6 of the A versions of AKINCI, developed within the scope of the project carried out under the leadership of the Presidency of Defence Industries, have been delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces as of the date of the test flight. AKINCI B, equipped with two 750 horsepower engines with a total of 1,500 horsepower, has made its first flight last week.
