Baykar’s AKINCI B Takes Off with Two 750 Horsepower Engines

The newest model of Baykar’s BAYRAKTAR AKINCI Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle (UCAV), AKINCI B, completed its first flight test successfully.

The test was commenced in Bayraktar AKINCI Flight Training and Test Centre in Çorlu on 2 March. In the test, AKINCI B was able to stay airborne for 1 hour and 16 minutes and the platform completed its aerodynamic parameter specification tests successfully as well. The first version of AKINCI, AKINCI A was able to output 900 horsepower in total, and the B version, with two 750 horsepower engines presents a significant improvement in this regard. The next version, C, will have two 950 horsepower engines, more than doubling the power output of the current version in service for a total of 1,900. AKINCI C is planned to have its first flight test soon.

Selçuk Bayraktar, CTO at Baykar led the first flight test of AKINCI B and commented the following on the platform: “AKINCI B is a more powerful version, producing 1,500 horsepower in total. The platform finally united with the skies above and finished its first flight, successfully completing its test manoeuvres. May it bring glory to our nation and our country!”
