Baykar will present Lithuania with one Bayraktar TB2 UCAV free of charge, as a result of a fundraising event that was commenced to purchase the UCAV and gift it to Ukraine. The development was announced through social media channels of the company on 2 June.
The fundraiser was organised by Andrius Tapinas, a Lithunanian journalist to raise €5 million in total to purchase one Bayraktar TB2 UCAV and send it to Ukraine. Even though the country has only 2.8 million population, the fundraiser reached its goal in just three days, collecting about €6 million.
Baykar surprised Vilius Semeska, Deputy Minister of Defence of Lithuania, during his visit to Türkiye, by announcing that they will deliver the UCAV free of charge, while also stating a desire to see the money raised spent as humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
