A total of 77 Azerbaijan Air Force personnel successfully completed the “Bayraktar TB2 UCAV ” training provided by Baykar on 5 February. The personnel, who will serve as unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UAV) pilots, mission commanders, payload operators and technicians, received their certificates at a ceremony held at the Baykar Flight Training Centre in Keşan after undergoing 4 months of training.
Haluk Bayraktar, General Manager of Baykar, and Selçuk Bayraktar, CTO of Baykar, hosted the ceremony, welcoming H.E. Ibrahim Khazar, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Turkey; Brigadier General Namig Islamzade, Deputy Commander of the Azerbaijan Air Force; Colonel Mushfig Mammadov, Defence Attaché of Azerbaijan; Colonel Elshad Panahov, Deputy Commander and Personnel Head of the Azerbaijani Air Force; and Colonel Elchin Akhundov, Head of Azerbaijani Air Force Operations to the event.
In a statement made by Baykar, it was stated that in the operation launched by Azerbaijan to liberate Nagorno-Karabakh on 27 September 2020, Bayraktar TB2 UCAVs were used extensively on the front line. The statement added that during the operations, many air defence systems, radar systems, tanks, armoured vehicles, trucks, arsenals, emplacements and units belonging to the Armed Forces of Armenia were destroyed by Bayraktar TB2 UCAVs.
