KoçSavunma’s SMARTIUM BLUE System is in Action to Fight Mucilage

by Can Kılınç

The SMARTIUM BLUE Marine Pollution/Water Quality Measurement System, developed by KoçSavunma, adds Marmara Sea to the places where it is used. The system was started to be used to monitor the effectiveness of oxygenation devices left to pilot application points by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization for the removal of mucilage in Marmara Sea.

The smart measurement buoys of the SMARTIUM BLUE system, which was previously developed by KoçSavunma to detect problems related to algae growth in the Gulf of Fethiye, have been transmitting data from the points where oxygen devices are located in the Marmara Sea since 1 July.

The system was installed in a very short time by moving from KoçSavunma facilities in Ankara, upon the call of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization. The officials of the ministry and TÜBİTAK, can now monitor many parameters such as water temperature, dissolved solids amount, nitrate and chlorophyll in addition to the amount of dissolved oxygen in the water, instantaneously and uninterruptedly, thanks to the system.
