100 HGK-82 precision guidance kits produced by ASFAT were delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) at a ceremony on 24 June. Hulusi Akar, Minister of National Defence, Mustafa Varank, Minister of Industry and Technology, Yaşar Güler, Commander of Turkish Armed Forces, Force Commanders, and guests attended the ceremony held in the 3rd Air Maintenance Factory Directorate.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Akar stated that they were eagerly awaiting the conclusion of the National Ramjet Air-to-Air Missile Gökhan and other ongoing domestic and national projects that will reinforce the strength of the Air Force and added: “Our domestic and nationality rate in our high-tech defence industry is now over 70 percent with the leadership, support, and incentives of our President. Our goal is to increase this rate to 75-80 percent in 2023. We will continue to do what is necessary for this.”
Minister Varank shared information about the project: “These kits turn Mk-82 general purpose bombs into smart munition with precise strike capability that can serve in all weather conditions, day or night with the guidance technology they have. HGK-82s were delivered for the first time in partnership with TÜBİTAK SAGE and ASELSAN before this. The HGK-82s, which we delivered today, are the first batch to be produced within the scope of the 1,000-piece kit project carried out in partnership with ASFAT-TÜBİTAK SAGE. They will all be delivered by August 2022.”
