The First Step Taken for the Integration of National Torpedo, AKYA, to PREVEZE Class Submarines

Ministry of National Defence (MND) has announced a tender for the integration of AKYA Torpedo into Application of Domestically-Produced Integrated Underwater Combat Management Systems to the PREVEZE Class Submarines Project (MÜREN-PREVEZE SYS) on 12 March. In the post shared on the social media accounts of the ministry, shows the contract signature between Istanbul Naval Supply Command of Turkish Naval Forces, and TÜBİTAK BİLGEM.

Turkey’s first national heavy torpedo, AKYA, is developed by Roketsan while MÜREN-PREVEZE SYS Project is carried out by TÜBİTAK. MND has released some footage regarding to the firing tests of the training version of AKYA torpedo from TCC Gür Submarine on 25 January. Meanwhile, Presidency of Defence Industries has declared their goal of starting the delivery of AKYA Torpedos within 2021.
