The opening of the A400M Aircraft D-Level Maintenance and Repair Facility, built at the Second Air Maintenance Factory Directorate in Kayseri, was held on 8 July with a ceremony attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan via video conference. At the same event, the delivery of the first retrofitted A400M aircraft and the Strategic Cooperation Agreements Certificate Ceremony were held.
In his speech at the event, President Erdoğan stated that they have brought a facility to Turkey where the maintenance and refurbishment of two A400M-sized aircraft can be carried out simultaneously. The President added the following in his speech: “As a result of the contract signed between ASFAT and Airbus, the renewal of the A400M aircraft was carried out at the Second Air Maintenance Factory Directorate, thus keeping 125 million Turkish liras per year in our country. Again, within the scope of this contract, Kayseri Second Air Maintenance Factory Directorate has become the first and only maintenance, renewal and repair centre in the world other than Airbus facilities. Turkey will be able to serve the whole world in this regard and export the talents it has gained.”
The facility in question was built under a contract signed in 2019 between AFSAT and Airbus.
