Preparations for Eurasia Airshow 2020, which will be held at Antalya International Airport, on 24-28 June, are continuing at full speed. The number of participants signing up for the event is increasing day by day, and the list of sponsors and official delegations that will be in attendance is also growing. As of the end of February, the number of countries confirming their representation at the event by exhibitor companies has reached 30, while the number of countries confirming their attendance as commercial visitors has reached 60. In addition, 70 countries will take part in the event with visiting delegations.
At the press conference held by the event organisers in December, the latest developments about Eurasia Airshow 2020 were shared. In the approximately 2-month period, there has been an increase both in the number of companies whose participation in the event has been confirmed, and in the number of aircrafts on static display and performing air shows.
Official Delegations and “Meet the Buyer” to Make a Difference
Eurasia Airshow 2020 targets to host many delegations at the level of ministers, chiefs of general staff and force commanders. Some of the delegations that have confirmed their attendance include those headed by the Gambian Defence Minister, the Gambian Chief of General Staff, the Gambian Air Force Commander, the Zambian Defence Minister, the Zambian Air Force Commander, the Kosovan Defence Minister, the Kosovan Air Force Commander, and the Bangladeshi Air Force Commander, while there will also be delegations arriving from the Brazilian Air Force, the Jordanian Air Force and the Romanian Air Force.
The United Kingdom is participating in the event through its Department for International Trade Defence and Security Organisation (DIT DSO). DIT DSO supports defence industry companies in the United Kingdom in their efforts to establish new business relationships abroad.
Eurasia Airshow 2020 is preparing to bring together purchasing authorities and suppliers in the sector through an innovative “Meet the Buyer” programme, as well as regular delegation meetings, to be arranged through a meeting planning system, which is standard in every fair. Almost 20 companies have already registered to the programme, which is designed exclusively for participating companies, and is expected to offer a dynamic meeting environment. Once the list of exhibiting companies is finalised, even more companies are expected to register for the programme.
Among the companies whose participation in the event has been confirmed is the aircraft manufacturer Utva Aviation, which operates under Serbian Yugoimport. Utva Aviation manufactures various training and light attack aircraft, such as Lasta and Kobac, as well as different types of UAVs. The participation of Thales has also been confirmed.
Recently, there has been an increase in the number of companies participating at the event from the United Kingdom, and in addition to BAE Systems and ADS Group, the participation of such companies as Leonardo UK, BSI, Kyocera and HR Smith has also been confirmed.
Saab Gripen to Return This Year
Saab JAS 39 Gripen, which was exhibited at the event in 2018 and performed various aishows, will also be taking part at this year’s event. Unlike in the previous event, this year’s aircraft will come from the inventory of the Hungarian Air Force rather than the Czech Air Force, but will again both be on static display and will perform air displays.
12,000 Business Visitors Registered
The event is open to commercial visitors as well as exhibitors and delegations, and approximately 12,000 commercial visitors have already registered for the event.
Commercial visitors who registered for the event by mid-December had the opportunity to benefit from free tickets, after which, the sale of discount tickets for commercial visitors was started. While ticket sales will continue until the start of the event, the event organisers advise aerospace professionals who want to visit the event for commercial purposes to register as soon as possible, since the discount rates will decrease as the date of Eurasia Airshow 2020 approaches.
50 Spotters to Follow the Event
Aviation photographers, known as Spotters, are also welcome to attend the event. The application process for spotters has already been completed and 150 spotters have applied in total. At the end of February, an evaluation was made of the applications considering many criteria, such as the photography equipment used, the quality of photographs taken previously and the number of followers on social media, and a total of 50 spotters were accepted.

About Meet the Buyer
The Meet the Buyer programme is organised with the goal of providing an important business development opportunity to the participants of the event.
Meet the Buyer, which will create an environment for low-cost, fast, effective and efficient B2B meetings that will each last 10 minutes, will bring together subcontractors with the representatives of purchasing authorities. The Meet the Buyer programme will be held on the trade days of the exhibition, in a special hall reserved for the activity at the exhibition site. Officials from both prime contractors operating in the aviation sector and government agencies, such as the defence ministries and air forces, are being called on to participate in the programme. In short, all stakeholders in the Eurasian aerospace ecosystem are being encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to make direct contacts with the purchasing authorities from both the public and private sectors.
