Numbers of BAYRAKTAR AKINCI UCAVs in the Sky Increasing

The second prototype of the BAYRAKTAR AKINCI UCAV, which was developed by Baykar using indigenous means, successfully completed the first flight test carried out at Bayraktar AKINCI Flight and Training Centre located at Çorlu Airfield Command. The development was announced by Baykar on 13 August.

The second prototype of BAYRAKTAR AKINCI UCAV, which took off at 17:28 within the scope of System Verification and Identification Test, stayed in the air for 1 hour and 2 minutes during the test flight conducted under the direction of Selçuk Bayraktar, CTO of Baykar. Thus, the third flight test of BAYRAKTAR AKINCI UCAV, which returned to the runway at 18:30 after the tests carried out in the sky were finished, was also successfully completed.

BAYRAKTAR AKINCI UCAV had performed its maiden flight on 6 December 2019. As part of the test, it had landed successfully back at the runway after 16 minutes of flight. BAYRAKTAR AKINCI UCAV, which performed a 1 hour and 6-minute flight for the System Verification Test on 10 January, had completed the test at an altitude of 5 thousand feet. The second prototype of BAYRAKTAR AKINCI UCAV was transferred to BAYRAKTAR AKINCI Flight and Training Centre located at Çorlu Airfield Command to participate in the ongoing tests from Baykar Indigenous UCAV R&D and Production Centre on 7 May. Test flights of the BAYRAKTAR AKINCI UCAV project will continue with two prototypes from now on.

Selçuk Bayraktar, CTO of Baykar, who directed the System Verification and Identification Test, in which the second prototype of BAYRAKTAR AKINCI UCAV participated, stated the following while the test was still continuing: “We performed the first flight test and also the System Verification and Identification of the BAYRAKTAR AKINCI Prototype 2 on 13 August 2020. Our aircraft successfully completed all the test phases. It has been in the air for about 52 minutes now. We will soon turn and start our landing approach. May it be good and auspicious to our country and nation.”

Third Prototype on the Road

The integration process of the third prototype of BAYRAKTAR AKINCI UCAV project; of which the first delivery is planned to be realized until the end of the year, continues at Baykar Indigenous UCAV R&D and Production Centre. The third prototype will also be sent to Çorlu Airfield Command to perform test flights after the integration is completed.
