Acceptance tests of the Mortar Ammunition Carrier Rotary Wing Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) BOYGA, developed by STM, have been successfully completed. In the statement made by the Defence Industry Agency on June 23, it was stated that BOYGA, which left all test stages behind, is now available for the use of security forces.
BOYGA, the latest member of STM’s tactical mini-UAV product family, carries a customized 81 mm mortar ammunition produced by the Mechanical and Chemical Industries Corporation (MKE). Owing to its ballistic estimation algorithm, BOYGA can drop the ammunition on the target with a direct hit. BOYGA, which can be used effectively in counterterrorism and asymmetric warfare environments, can stay in the air for 30 minutes with mortar ammunition. BOYGA, which can reach a flight altitude of 1,500 meters, can operate at a range of 5 kilometres. The system, which has a weight of 15 kg, can be carried by a single soldier.
