President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan visited the first Main Maintenance Factory Directorate in Arifiye on 2 July and made statements about the management of the facility. Stating that BMC is operating the facility in Arifiye on behalf of ASFAT, whose capital is wholly owned by the state, President Erdoğan noted: “I repeat with emphasis. Our factory is owned by the Treasury and allocated by the Ministry of National Defence. In other words, this place is the property of the state, its title deed is in the state and will remain so. The company that carries out the operation of the factory is a Turkish company. The position of our workers working here belong to ASFAT, which is affiliated to the Ministry of National Defence. Therefore, none of our employees in the factory staff have suffered any loss of rights. Production continues under the control of our soldiers in line with the needs and demands of our Turkish Armed Forces, as in the past. All kinds of inspection authority related to the factory belong to our Ministry of National Defence. The foreign partner of the firm is only the financial partner. You know, they say ‘Qatar, Qatar, Qatar’. Yes, Qatar is its financial partner, with 49 percent. Turkish partners have 51 percent.”
Reminding that the management structure of BMC, which runs the factory, has recently changed, President Erdoğan said that the activities of the company will now be carried out by Tosyalı Holding.
