President Erdoğan Opens the Second Phase of Teknopark Istanbul Buildings

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan visited Teknopark Istanbul on 16 February and unveiled the buildings constructed as a part of the second phase of Teknopark Istanbul. Within the scope of his visit to Teknopark Istanbul, President Erdoğan, who also opened the Yeditepe University R&D Center and BASF Innovation Center, received information about the entrepreneur groups and companies performing R&D activities at the Teknopark.

Besides President Erdoğan; Fuat Oktay, Vice President ; Hulusi Akar, Minister of National Defence; Mustafa Varank, Minister of Industry and Technology; Ruhsar Pekcan, Minister of Trade; Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir, President of Defence Industries; Prof. Dr. Metin Yerebakan, President of the Teknopark Istanbul Board of Directors and Bilal Topçu, General Manager of Teknopark Istanbul also participated in the opening along with many other individuals from the industry.

Prof. Dr. Metin Yerebakan, President of the Teknopark Istanbul Board of Directors; expressed that he was delighted with President Erdoğan’s visit of the Teknopark Istanbul, which the President dubbed as “The Pride of Turkey”. Prof. Dr. Metin Yerebakan stated the following: “Today, we witnessed a historic moment in our Teknopark. We had the opportunity to express our achievements by welcoming our President, who never withheld his support in the launch of our Teknopark and during many achievements in our Teknopark. We are aiming to provide 4000 additional jobs by the end of the 2020 with our second phase buildings we opened today. We will continue serving our national economy and aiding our country’s defensive force. We are aiming to house 1000 companies and 43,000 R&D engineers in 2030 after all the phases are completed and provide added value for our national economy and exports.”
