Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) announced that new shipments of TEBER-82 guidance kits developed by Roketsan have been delivered. The technical features of the guidance kit were included but no information about the user was given in the description of the video published by SSB on the subject. The TEBER Laser Guidance Kit can be integrated into the MK-81 and MK-82 series general purpose bombs, which are also included in the inventory of the Turkish Air Force. The version of TEBER integrated into MK-81 is called TEBER-81, and the version integrated into MK-82 is called TEBER-82.
With TEBER, free-fall general purpose bombs become guided munitions that can hit their targets from long ranges and with high precision. TEBER provides the infrastructure required for a smart weapon system with the following features: An Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), a Global Positioning System (GPS) and a Semi-Active Laser (SAL) Seeker.
Allowing the user to rapidly integrate it with a general purpose bomb even under field conditions, TEBER’s modular design stands out as an innovative and cost-effective solution. The IMU and GPS that provide precision guidance are mounted on the tail section of TEBER.
The SAL, which can be mounted to the nose portion of the bombs, gives the weapon system a precision strike capability against moving targets. A proximity sensor may also be optionally added to the SAL Seeker section. TEBER’s tail section also offers logistical convenience to users with its ability to recognize the integrated bombs’ type.
TEBER has been included in the inventory of the Turkish Armed Forces and has been used aboard F-16s following a series of successful tests conducted in 2018. It draws attention as a guidance kit that is highly popular among air forces not only in Turkey, but also all around the world.
