Sarsılmaz has been expanding its own development, the SAR 9 pistol family, in line with the needs of various uses, and the company also presents these models to wide masses with the fairs it attends across the globe. The company focused on its newest development within this product family, SAR 9 CX, in the IWA Outdoor Classics 2022 fair held in Nürnberg in Germany, between 3-6 March. This pistol was designed by creating a synthesis between SAR 9C and SAR 9X.
Sarsılmaz presented more than 50 pistol models in addition 26 different hunting and sporting shotguns at IWA, one of the premier shooting and hunting trade fairs around the world, with SAR 9 CX being one of the surprises at the company’s booth.
SAR 9 CX: Best Features of C and X Models
The development of SAR 9 CX was based on SAR 9C, another one of Sarsılmaz’ compact class pistols. SAR 9 CX has the same dimensions as SAR 9C, with a barrel length of 103 mm and a total length of 183 mm. The pistol is 37 mm wide and weighs 753 grams empty.
The slide of the weapon was augmented with the cooling cuts present on SAR 9X. As such, SAR 9 CX can cool itself faster during consecutive shots.
The slide of the weapon was also designed to be cocked easily. Serrations were machined into the slide for this reason, both on the front and back, to help with grip. Similar serrations were present on SAR 9C. This feature both allows the weapon to be readied easier and giving the user an easier time should he or she decide to press check the weapon. The slide moulds into the user’s hand, allowing the user to easily check if a cartridge is present on the chamber by pulling back the slide as much as the user desires.
The pistol in question has a 15 round capacity and offers no safety catch. The weapon’s slide catch can be dropped easier compared to the base SAR 9 model. Another important feature of the pistol is a standard picatinny rail under the barrel even though the pistol is in the compact class. As such, tactical flashlights or other accessories with standard interfaces can be attached to the weapon.
SAR 9 CX also has design features for the users who wish to use optical sights, with interfaces supporting these sights being added on the weapon’s slide. This allows the users to use their weapon with optical sights without any need for modifications on the weapon itself.
The weapon is already on sale in the USA and will be offered to the Turkish market after 1 April.

SAR 9: Wide Product Family
Sarsılmaz also showcased other models of the SAR 9 pistol family. The product family is comprised of different models, each developed for its own usage case. The pistols have features in common, however: they are striker-fired, single action pistols that chamber 9x19mm rounds and they all have a polymer body, with their barrels and slides built out of forged alloy steel. Their grips have changeable covers, ranging from small to large and they are fed from double-stack detachable box magazines.
In addition, all models come with firing pin and trigger safeties. Firing pin safety makes it impossible to have a dropped pistol fire even if it is fully cocked and ready to fire, while the trigger safety does not let the trigger move unless the small latch on the trigger is pressed.
A common feature of the SAR 9 family is the picatinny rail found nearly on all models. Standard accessories can be fitted thanks to this interface.
Shotguns Were Also Present
Sarsılmaz also presented its shotguns at IWA, bringing together its classic models with enthusiasts, bringing its MAGIC and VERTU models into the limelight. MAGIC was designed for the people who seek elegance in their shotguns, with its walnut stock with oil varnish already applied, while VERTU is the first inertia operated shotgun designed by the company.
User Needs Are Number One in Priority
M. Nuri Kızıltan, Assistant General Manager at Sarsılmaz summarised the participation of the company at IWA as follows: “With almost 150 years of history and our countless firsts and successes, we have been taking the mantle of a leader for Turkish arms industry. With this in mind, we represented our country at IWA as well as all the other fairs we attended worldwide. Our SAR 9 CX model, presented in a fair for the first time, enjoyed a great deal of attention. We developed our SAR 9C model in the compact class, for the users who desire to concealed carry their weapons. SAR 9 CX is based on this model and draws attention with both its design and ergonomic features. With its compact size, it can be easily carried concealed, while offering effective firepower to its user when needed. We will be developing new models as time passes, in line with our users’ needs.”
