Turkcell commenced a strategic cooperation with ASPİLSAN Enerji, a company that produces Li-Ion batteries domestically. The development was announced by ASPİLSAN Enerji on 18 June.
The cooperation between the parties began in 2019, however, as ASPİLSAN Enerji commenced production of Li-Ion batteries, this cooperation took a more tangible form. Through the joint efforts of Turkcell and ASPİLSAN Enerji engineers, the development and testing phases of the Li-Ion batteries that meet the required design standards were completed in January. Turkcell then decided to procure the Li-Ion batteries it will use in its infrastructure between 2022-2025 from ASPİLSAN Enerji, taking the cooperation a step further. According to the contract, around 20,000 pieces of 48V 100Ah Li-Ion batteries will be produced in ASPİLSAN Enerji’s Kayseri factory for Turkcell, in a period of nearly 3.5 years. The first phase will include the production and delivery of 300 batteries, until October. In addition, the two parties will cooperate on R&D for the development of new products and battery technologies.
