by Şafak Kaan Oğraş

Türksat 5B communications satellite was brought into operation with full capacity with a ceremony held on 14 June in Türksat’s Gölbaşı campus, with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan gracing the ceremony as well.

President Erdoğan has expressed the following: “We launched Türksat 4A in 2014 and Türksat 4B in 2015. Now we are expanding our satellite fleet with new ones. As we have launched both Türksat 5A and Türksat 5B in the last year, we became one of the few countries that launch two satellites in the same year.”

President Erdoğan also shared that Türkiye was taking steps to achieve its rightful place, from developing its own satellite to preparing a lunar lander, from developing scientists to developing a space sector, and added: “Space technologies are the one of the fields we see the most rapid advancements in our country. The fact that we have a well-established organisation like Türksat, and its capable engineer, technicians, and other personnel is a great advantage for us.”
